The tub faucet in our second bathroom has been loose for some time. I finally had a plumber come out and he said the piping isn't properly secured behind the wall. We currently don't have an access panel so he said he will need to go through the drywall behind the shower in order to fix it. Before I let him do this work I just wanted to get a second opinion. If that's the only solution then I'm fine with that, it just makes me nervous to go through the wall and then have to fix that once he is done. Thank you for any advice!

Yes, your plumber is correct, it came loose from the stud and needs to be re-attached.

They sell nice access panels to cover the hole so it won't look bad and you'll have an access for any future repairs. So it's win win situation.

Sounds good! Yeah I'll definitely be looking to add an access panel. Unfortunately it's in the second floor staircase but we can always cover it up with a picture. haha

Access from behind it is the only way, IMO. Not a big deal, but don't expect the plumber to fix the wall. He'll laugh. Be prepared to tape and mud it yourself or install a spring loaded access panel (best).
