Twice now this water heater has turned itself into off mode. The breaker is not tripped. It comes back on and works fine when I turn it back on after discovering it off. Both times we ran out of hot water and realized it was off a couple of days after we had a thunderstorm. I am wondering if the lightening could be causing this? I have a touch lamp in my bedroom and when it thunderstorms it sometimes goes on and off intermittently. I'm wondering if something like that could be going on with the water heater? What could be making this happen if not that? What can I do to fix this, and is it bad for my water heater or just a nuisance? It is just my husband and I here using hot water and we don't use alot so that's probably why it takes a couple days for us to run out/notice. The water heater is about 6 years old, and has been flushed every 6 months since it was installed. It is in the house -heat/air conditioned. We do not have it hooked to wi-fi or any of that stuff.
