Doing a remodel of the last room in the house. Walkout basement. Why would the construction of woolmanized 2x8x8 be doubled up on the perimeter of the inside floor. It a waste of inside space. Picture below

Hi Larry and thanks for replying. After further investigation, the previous homeowner built the addition. He used 2x6 studs. When the foundation was constructed, he used 8" wide blocks. He then ran 2" stringers on the bottom and top edge of the block and put 6"L tongue and groove wood. He then capped it with a 4" pine. Kind of janky.

Remove the little plywood on the end so we can see the shape of the concrete curb.

On the inside wall of the addition there is no block foundation. They built it out to match the 3 outside walls. I will take a photo of what the concrete block and wall looks like and post in a few minutes.
