I'm seeing a pattern here with how PVC joints have been done on irrigation lines, and I don't think they were done well.
My understanding is that the purple is primer.
And then there should be PVC cement that chemically bonds the two in the joint after that.
What I'm seeing is epoxy outside that joint, and that's where things are failing.
This setup was done back in probably 1984 when the place was built initially.
Was that common back then to just epoxy around the joint, and not cement the joint like they are done these days?
