So I bought one of these to use in the garage to bring the temps up to where I can do stuff out there in winter. Winter means lows of mid 20F at worst. And I would expect to use it when it's more like 40's or 50's. Too cold for wrenching. My Ex BIL used to use one FWIW.

They say don't use indoors, but lots of reviews say they use it in a garage with door partly open. I will get a CO detector.

But, wondering what thoughts you may have on where to place it. Just outside the big door pointing in? Inside with the window open? Man door and window open? RIP? :p

Thanks for the responses, I did not expect so many. Maybe I should have posted before I bought it. I will try it out next week.

I have that heater head. I use it in the garage, i set it 5-6-7 ft from where i am working, and use it on low just long enough to warm the area. Maybe 20 min. I figure the overhead door is drafty enough that it will be ok. And i have discovered that it does turn off if tipped too far … found that when i picked up the tank by the integral handle, and the tank tipped enough to shut off the gas.
Very helpful Eddie. (y)

I finally tried this today. Set it a foot or so inside the vehicle door which was wide open. It was upper 50's in the garage and the heater did not seem to make a dent in that. But it warmed me up while I worked on my bike a little. I stopped when I found I needed a 27mm socket but did not have one. I did not die or anything, the CO detector did not make a sound. Maybe next try I'll leave the big door open a couple feet and open the side door or window too.
