I've never dealt with an AGM battery so I'm pretty ignorant on this. Been googling but haven't found a definite answer yet. Hoping someone here might have some experience. My wifes Honda 4 wheeler needed a new battery so I bought the OEM brand and type that was in it. A YUASA GYZ16H AGM battery. So I knew I should have a smart charger capable of charging and AGM battery. I pondered between the 6 amp and 10 amp charger. I went with the more expensive 10 amp charger thinking if I ever have something bigger in the future, I won't have to buy another charger. However reading the instructions for the battery, it says to a use a charger with a maximum of 2amps. So I'm confused. Will this 10 amp "smart" charger ruin the battery? The battery itself says charging method STD 1.6A x 5~10 hours. The charger does not have a selector to select the charge rate/amps. It's a Schumacher SC1303 charger I believe. I'm assuming the 10 amp charger will be charging too fast so I need to in fact find a 2 amp charger? Anyone have any knowledge on this?
