I have a new home and had sump pump issues for 10 months-it runs for days 23/7 after a heavy rain. I have done all the buried pipes etc. We discovered the holes when the sump pump sucked up foundation stones and clogged the outside pipe and the check valve flap inside. The also had 2 check valves installed. Why would a plumber cut in 2 inch square holes(used a utility knife) in the bottom of the barrel? My warranty is done and for 10 month I have complained about seeing stones on the ground at discharge before I buried the pipe AND that the water rises up through the bottom and NEVER out the drain tile. Then it clogged. Concern is did it suck up too many stones to make the foundation or basement floor could maybe crack?Builder does not respond to the issue and has done nothing for me 10 months but tell me we have had a lot of rain, which we have.Nobody around me has apump that rins this many days.I have already spent thousands and after today another thousand to remedy the situation. Is it OK to patch those holes with the use of a good plumber?
