I want to lay down P & S tiles over a vinyl sheeting floor. It is only one layer of existing, do I need to remove or how do I prep the floor, can I grout over the P&S when I am done with this floor underneath?? Also the floor is coved about 4 inches high, will peel & stick go up that high with out bending?

Is the vinyl glued to the floor or is it no glue vinyl?
Can you please explain more on the 4" hight? P&S will crack if it bends or not flat
I have seen P&S layers on top of each other.
Lots of people do this its common although over a wooden floor like 1/4" sanded plywood to install the self stick tiles to will last much longer.

Make shore u acclimate the P&S before install meaning leave them in the room for about 48hrs or they won't stick make shore the room is worm for that time.
And go by the pattern if there styled.

Oh so you don't have wood trim on the bottom of the room it's the vinyl? What room are you doing this in? Can you provide picture? Of the room and what you have in there now?

 

Is the old vinyl smooth or embossed?(indented pattern)

 

It is embossed, its for our Kitchen. And yes its the vinyl that goes up the wall..I'll get a picture up ASAP

 

Peal and stick likes a very flat surface---if you wish to stick it to old embossed vinyl the imbossing need to be filled in.

There is a product called 'embossing leveler' sold in the flooring section of the stores.

It is very expensive---but will allow you to set the peal and stick on top without any hollow spots.

Cut out the rolled wall section and add regular wood molding.

I don't like to stack new flooring on top of old--so most times I do remove the old vinyl and the 1/4" underlayment-

Then install new plywood underlayment (not luan ply) --roll on a coat of 'bond enhancer' for good luck and stick the tiles.

Using embossing leveler is faster and cheaper --but the job has a higher failure rate than a new inderlaymet.
