Some of ya may have participated in the shed slab thread, and we've decided it might be a better idea to go ahead and pour the patio slab along with the shed slab.
Our foundation slab is 6" thick. So if you're working that out...our footing is barely covered with dirt in order to maintain a little under 6" from the grade to the surface of the home slab.
Patio will be 10' x 16'. Dirt has been built up level to the top of the footing (since the yard kind of drops off right at the back of the house).
My question is...is there any issue with pouring the patio slab right on top of the footing? That would be a 4" slab that would sit on the footing along the edge that meets with the house, and then sitting on a 2" layer of gravel for the rest of the slab.
Does that make sense? I'm going to see if I can throw together a quick drawing...
