I have so had it with scraping my home’s clapboards by hand. Is it possible and worthwhile to rent a Paint Shaver for a day or two? Where would I find one?

OR…

Would a drill or angle grinder fitted with one of those thick, woven paint removal attachments be better?

I tried the woven pads in a grinder on my deck. They worked, but one pad would last me about 2 and a half spindles. It was pathetic. No way I could see doing my whole deck like that. Those things aren't that cheap.

I don't know anything about the paint shavers. Seems like a good idea on paper, but I haven't seen them used much and I assume there is a good reason. Most guys will just do a light scrape by hand and paint over everything. I dunno.
