My current kitchen range hood does not vent outside; it just recirculates. I want to switch to venting through the roof with an OTR microwave when we remodel.
The specs of some of the microwaves I have looked at say they have convertible vents while others say recirculating vents.
What is the difference between convertible vent and recirculating vent? From reading the installation manuals, either type can vent through the roof for the ones I looked at.
Examples:
Convertible: GE 1.9-cu ft 1000-Watt Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking (Stainless Steel) in the Over-the-Range Microwaves department at Lowes.com
Recirculating: GE 1.6-cu ft 1000-Watt Over-the-Range Microwave (Stainless Steel) in the Over-the-Range Microwaves department at Lowes.com
