New deck boards, would you stain the underside prior to installation?

Saying stain does nothing to protect wood is an absolutely ridiculous thing to say,
You’re wrong. Stain by itself is pigment particles suspended in a carrier such as mineral spirits. What protection does that provide? Go ahead … you can say it … no protection at all.

If you buy a product with a sealer it will, for a short time, provide a water resistant film.

You seriously trying to say stain doesnt offer protection??? Im not even gonna get into that one..
God forbid that we should use proper terminology. Long live obfuscation and miscommunication.

Stain … traditional pigment in a carrier … offers no protection. Stain with a sealer does offer protection.

I applaud your decision to not get into that one … you knew you would show your ignorance and lose.
