I bought a cheap electronic leak detector from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Refrigerant-..._1_2_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1525041383&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=hvac+leak+detector&psc=1
I charged my Daikin 15 SEER 9k mini split to 500 psi with nitrogen for 24 hours and checked for leaks with dish soap and water, no leaks.
I vacuumed to 170 microns for over an hour and it held with no issues. The allowed 410a to enter for system for 5 seconds as per manual. The electronic leak detector quickly isolated a small leak on the 3/8" flair inside, snugged up with a wrench and leak stopped. finished charging the system.
Now when I scan around the inside head the leak detector may indicate a leak or may not, It may sound an alarm 3 feet away from the head or not at all.
When it indicates a leak I decrease the sensitivity and try to narrow down the source but can find nothing. I think the detector is sensing something else, maybe off gassing of new product, heat??
Still I want to check this as much as I can.I did some reading and see that the soap and water I have been using for 55 years has been replaced with new high tech products.
I found Nu Calgon mentioned on the forum but all that is carried locally is Oatly leak detector. I did a web search and can find no comparisons on Oatly vs Nu Calgon.
I did purchase the Oatly and spread it liberally on all connections and no bubbles show.
So my question is Nu Calgon a better product and worth ordering??
