Hi there! I'm installing a new bathtub (Kohler Underscore), and was planning on bedding it in mortar. However the four feet under the acrylic tub are pretty long. The front two feet are about 2.5" and the rear two feet are about 3.5". Instructions say I can use construction adhesive on the feet, or bed the tub in mortar. But the instructions seem kind of generic.
I feel like the mortar would flatten out before it even touched the bottom of the tub.
What do the experts suggest?
I kind of don't want to use Adhesive as I don't think it's a long term solution. When I dry-fit the tub and get it level, at least one of the feet closest to the wall doesn't touch the ground (subfloor is older and not completely level of course)
Is it possible that just the 4 feet sit in a bed of mortar as I level it out and let it set?
Also, while setting the mortar bed, do I lay out a sheet of plastic? I've also heard of some people stapling down some chicken wire. The subfloor is older 1/2" OSB.
Thanks
