I sprayed ceilings (Sherwin flat white ProMar 200 no tint) and woodwork (SW SuperPaint white no tint semi-gloss). Came back the next day to mask the woodwork and ceilings so I could spray the walls, and the tape wouldn't stick to neither the ceilings nor the woodwork. I tried 3M delicate surfaces tape, regular 3M blue tape, and regular 3M 2020 off-white tape, and none would stick to either surface.
Even though the paint felt dry, I'm assuming the reason the tape wouldn't stick was because there was still too much humidity in the air and moisture from the paint on the surfaces being taped. In other words, the paint wasn't actually completely dry, just dry to the touch. Am I right or wrong in my assumption? Make me feel better and tell me your opinion, regardless of whether you agree or disagree. Perhaps next time I should wait to do any masking at least 2 days after painting ceilings and woodwork, not less than 24 hours.
