Above, about similar vinyl plank with curled edge. It may be because it wasn't lvp, higher grade of vinyl planks. LVP is supposed to be ALL vinyl construction so much more resistant to water. Standard vinyl planks are supposed to have wooden core so the core can absorb water and such damages.
I used vp's only once, cheap planks. Not much experience. But always said in the forum that wood subtrate should be at least coated with material such as redguard. This post made me think, though. If some water, is it better if water is allowed to be absorbed by subfloor or leak thru? I assume 1x boards will be covered with underlayment, and that underlayment/osb/plywood should take several leaks before it curls/delaminates.
All things considered, if I use vinyl plank, I would coat the substrate and use lvp. I used cheap vinyl because it needed to be very thin. My parents house. Other jobs, I used 1/4" luan but now thinking luan was a bad choice.
