My experience has been that it’s better to use acrylic paint in furniture and cabinets. Seems like it cures faster and harder. Too late to matter for you, I know.
I’ve painted shelves with latex and it seems like they NEVER fully cure and sticking is always a small problem.

Example of "acrylic" vs. "latex" paints? Do you mean oil?

I actually have no idea what I’m talking about, lol, nothing to see here move along.

what I was thinking of was the acrylic latex i recently used. That cured nice and hard, nice and fast. As compared to the “regular” wall paint I used to paint some other shelves, which stayed sticky for . . . Well, forever.
