Hi all! Pantry redo is in store with our kitchen reno and I’ve been stuck on the design vision. Cabinet bases with upper shelving or shelving throughout? I love the luxe look of the cabinet bases, but debating if we really need it, cost factor, and also space factor bc of the standard depth being 24”.
with that said, one consideration to try to save in costs is to buy used/upcycled cabinets and just refinish them into the design of the pantry. I’m curious how difficult it is to shorten the depth of cabinets? I’m thinking of wanting about 18-20” depth. Can I just cut off the backside of cabinets? I don’t necessarily need the backs from the aesthetics FYI, but I imagine for structural purposes I’ll need them.
