I just bought a new house that has aluminum siding with individual corner pieces. They're constantly coming loose, blowing around or simply falling off. I'm looking for some ideas on how to either replace them or cover them with a more traditional full vertical corner trim. For the most part the siding is in pretty good shape other than these corners. If I can figure out a solution and paint then it would be a huge difference.
This is what I have:
And this is the look im going for:
I had a local company look at it and they said they would attach a 1x3 on both sides of the existing corner, then bend a custom aluminum corner that wraps over everything (including the existing corner).
Would it be possible to just attached a pre-made pvc corner like this directly to the existing siding? They sell kits to plug the screw holes after attaching. The only thing I could think of is the gap that would be created from the straight piece of trim laying on top of the uneven siding pieces. I could also leave the existing corners underneath tho to keep things better sealed.
Open to any suggestions!
