A sump pump discharge line clog has led me to reconfigure where the line exits the house and ties into the drain line out to the storm drain. Originally, it was through the foundation wall and underground the entire way. My new plan was to come out through the house above grade, do a 90 down into a 3" pvc pipe and run underground out to the storm drain.
I mocked this up and it drains great, but the water is extremely loud when coming out. If I cover the air gap at the top of the 3" pvc, it is much more quiet, but this removes the overflow ability.
How can this be quieted down? I could extend the 1.5" sump discharge farther down into the 3" drain line. Or build an enclosure or shroud around it to muffle the sound. Moving the discharge line to another exit location is not an option.
