How often to flush septic tank?

Are you adding ENZYMES to the mix regularly?

If so it might be fine, but as advised 20 years is a long time, for the solids to solidify even more, and cause problems.

One person alone and out of the house a lot, might not ever have a lot of solids in there anyway, you know when and where you go more than any of us would, and really I don't want to know.:biggrin2:

So use your own judgement, I would get it pumped, and ask the technician ( yes they are technically trained "sanitation engineers") , if they found many "concretions", and things that would indicate any potential problems.

Then add a box of ENZYMES ( rid-X) to it every month or two, to keep them alive and dissolving those solids, so the leach field can do it's job of dispersing the waste.

Also ask how many gallon the tank is, that will help you to keep those ENZYMES alive, because then you will know approximately how much to add, and when.

Yeast is cheap, about $1 for a pack of 3. It may or may not be needed but it puts my mind at ease.
I'll buy that.:wink2:

Had to have one completely replaced, due to the previous owner, never treating, pumping, or even having an access hole to it.

It was all a solid lump of " concretion".:vs_mad:
