Asian Hot & Sour Shrimp Soup
I winged this recipe, stopped at the Asian market on the way home
from Doc appointment for the goodies for this soup. I served it with the
toasted and buttered cinnamon raisin bread that I made yesterday. šŸ˜‹
Recipe is in with the pics šŸ‘ this will serve 4 -5 people.

Wow, you made it from scratch, I bet it is fantastic. I bought a can of the hot and sour powder from a local Asian store. It is really good but still have to add ingredients like the mushrooms etc. I always pick the tofu out of anything I eat with it in it, I just don't like that stuff.

I love Hot and Sour soup and have made it from an authentic Chinese cookbook. That recipe used red vinegar, wood ear mushroom, tofu, green onions and don't remember what else. It was very close to a Hot and Sour soup we got at a Schezwan Garden restaurant.

Nice!

Did you find it hot enough, with just the red pepper flakes? I thought the Asian restaurants used "hot oil" in this soup. Much as I like shrimp, I never feel like it goes with a lot of Asian dishes. Sort of clashes with the other flavors, especially the spicy dishes. Maybe that's just me.

It was plenty hot. I have hot oil from simmering hot pepper flakes in olive oil, but I didn't put it in.
