I'm putting in some 3/4" red oak tongue and groove, 3.25" wide. I had previously laid some in a hallway, and laid it from west to east. After adding on, the west side of that hallway has been extended and I'd like the flooring to continue westward. The problem is, I'd need to lay it east to west, and would be putting groove against groove.
How do I handle this? Do I lay the first piece groove to groove, face nail, and putty the nail holes?
Or, could a dowel rod be glued into the groove to "convert" it into a tongue?
Any input on laying hardwood flooring and finishing would be appreciated - I've done some but I'm always eager to learn.
Thanks!
