I have a grinder where the disc screws on. What about all the other discs that just have a hole? Seems like the thinner cutoff wheels are solely mounted like that. This feels like a dumb question, but I'm just lost. Is there a mounting device I have to get to use the "just a hole" discs?

What is the make/model of your grinder? Mine came with a nut shaped like the center hub on your premounted wheels.
I believe it's a Chicago Electric (Harbor Freight) that someone gave me or just forgot. The screw on discs work perfectly. I'm guessing I just need a nut mount thing. I've looked and never found one hanging up near the discs.

That looks like it! I guess these things are supposed to come with the tool.

Depends on the exact model but note the raised part of those washers and nuts. There also washers that allow for different arbor sizes to be used.

Sometimes parts can be bought but when they are on sale just buying a new HF grinder may be cheaper.

If you have a good brand but have lost the nut, one option is to buy the cheapest HF tool and use that nut. They are all the same thread and pitch.

Or go to a good hardware store and buy a nut like neal alluded to.

If you want a lot better grinder buy one at HF cost about 30$. I "collected the nuts for a while, especially the hex as they were more rare and liked them in the field. To get one with a paddle switch which I actually like better is 45 at that store. You can spend a lot more on them but they are not much/any better. That 15$ one is not the same level, some work, some worked a long time but they are not as good as the next better generation.

Yes, let's support the manufacturing workers in China and not worry about American workers. I don't shop at Harbor Freight or at Wal-Mart as I prefer to support jobs in this country - go figure.

$120 for a snapon vs $35 for a good Chinese ratchet. The price gap wasn't nearly that drastic between USA and Chinese tools a few years ago. My 15 year old USA Craftsman set was about equivalent to a decent Chinese set nowadays.
