I need to glue a sheet of formica to the bottom of the cabinet underneath of the kitchen sink.
Currently the bottom of the cabinet is OSB covered in some sort of wood grain thin layer.
Water has infiltrated this and caused the OSB to swell. I plan on leveling this by sanding.
Since there are water pipes and electrical conduits penetrating the surface and the clearance to the drain pipes is low, I'm not sure standard contact cement will give me time and opportunity to maneuver the formica sheet into place without it sticking out of position.
That is why I'm thinking that construction adhesive might be a better option. It will give me time to position the sheet in place and then I can weight it down to let the glue cure.
I'm curious to know if construction adhesive will glue formica down and which could be the best one to use.
Also, are there any contact cements for formica that allow some time for positioning the formica before it sticks down forever?
