frequent complaint- luxury vinyl plank coming apart at seams. What are they doing wrong?

I have installed a gob of Life Proof LVP in houses, and no complaints so far. It is easy to install. One thing is that while the long edges are click lock, the narrow ends must be set using a white rubber hammer. That ensures it is set properly and also makes sure the "waterproofness" at those seams is good. It is a tight fit, and if you don't use the hammer, it could pop up. But that is an installation failure, not a failure of the flooring.

I assume the white rubber is so you don't leave black scuff marks?
Exactly.
@pman626 both videos are of laminate, not LVP. I can tell by the edging. If LVP click lock is laid properly it will not gap on the narrow edge. The reason for hitting it with a hammer is to seal the edge. It will not come loose once it is sealed.
