Our back exterior door has a threshold that is lower than the level of the interior finished tile floor, so I was wondering what my options are for installing a door sweep or otherwise sealing the bottom edge of the door. If a sweep just brushed the tile, it would leave a gap when the door is closed, so air could come down under the sweep and back up into the house. I thought about maybe a strip of wood on the bottom interior side of the door to extend the door to the inside, so a strip could seal against the tile, or building up or replacing the threshold with a taller one for the sweep to seal against?
Also, how would you fix or replace the metal seal around the side and top edges, which has seen better days? Do the rubber seals need a gap to fit a flange into, which I don't have?
