Hey everyone. I have a question about roof overhangs. I plan on redoing my roof next summer. I have about 2 years roofing experience, built roof trusses and am pretty experienced with general home repairs.
My problem is I live in rainy vancouver canada and my back 2nd story porch is about 6 inches to wide from my roof overhang and gutters, resulting in water collecting and pooling on the porch. The porch itself runs about 2/3 of the length of my house.
What is the best way to extend my overhang to stop this annoying problem without having to change my tongue and groove soffits. Extending the rafters a foot would work but then it will be lower than my existing soffits where I would have to add another row of tongue and groove soffits the length of my house. I want it to look good from my porch looking up. I will do this work after roof is ripped off.
Any experience comments ideas would be appreciated. Thank you
