Hello. I am a DIYer and just completed the construction of the exterior of my 20x40 cabin, and got all of my batt insulation installed. I'm trying to get out of a rental unit asap and want to get moved into the cabin to avoid paying additional rent. My question is: I'm wanting to move into the new construction and finish the interior -- does anyone know if it would be acceptable to move in with just my batt insulation exposed? Of course the paper side is oriented to the interior. I have used Certainteed batt insulation. Has anyone on the forum taken this route before?

Thanks for any input...........doug

#1, If this is a permitted job the insulation will need to be inspected before covering and there not going to give you a C/O until the drywalls up.
#2, Fire hazard
#3, Going to be a nightmare having to keep moving furniture to work.
#4, There's going to be a ton of drywall dust and mess to deal with until that drywalls finished.

If you're going to live there for a while with insulation showing, let me recommend Roxul mineral wool instead. It's way less scratchy and irritating, which will help the comfort factor until the drywall is up if it gets bumped or disturbed. It's also better-insulating: the 2x4 compatible version is R-15 compared to a maximum of R-13 that fiberglass batts come in here in the USA, for example. Home Depot and Lowes sell them, and if your local Lowes doesn't have it, they can special order it. I think Menards carries it too.
