I have been removing the soffits in my kitchen, and I would like to reroute the electrical cables through the top plates. I was originally going to add junction boxes, but I think it would be easier to remove/replace the receptacles instead. If I have to cut drywall to remove the staples, I will do that. Is there any issue with drilling the top plate? Is there a standard hole size to use for the following configurations: One - 12/2 wire, Two - 12/2 wires, Three - 12/2 wires? I appreciate any input.
