I bought a new faucet for our kitchen sink, which came with a surface-mount soap dispenser. Our old sink does not have a 4th hole for the dispenser. I don't want to remove the sink from the counter. We're not devoted to using the soap dispenser, but if it's not a huge challenge to bore a new hole in the sink, might as well.
The dispenser appears to need a 1-1/8" hole. Is drilling this with a hand drill with the sink in place likely to lead to a disaster? It's on a cheap, 40-year-old linoleum/particle board countertop, if that matters. (A full kitchen remodel is WAY too far down our to-do list to even think about, at this point.)
What kind of drill bit would be best?
