well I put in a new door casing with a prehung door... got it perfectly plum, square, and had a 1/8" gap around the casing for the door even around all sides... nailed and shimmed it into place took the door off to finish it, stained the casing and sealed it with poly...
but then had a break before I could stain and poly the door... about 2 months.... since then its gotten much more humid out, and now when I rehung the door 1 of the hinges was out of alignment by a little bit, not a huge deal to fix, but the casing actually bowed out 1/4th of an inch where the lock set is at! the door wont even close... what could of caused this? I know humidity causes stuff to expand wood wise, but this much?
thankfully I haven't trimmed it yet, so I can cut out the nails and shims and redo that side...
any tips on fixing this before I get into it? or what did I do wrong? I followed the instructions that came with the door exactly, and watched a bunch of videos on the net on how to do it also which said similar things
edit: the only side that bowed out is the lock side, the hinge side is perfectly plumb still
