Someone suggested I install "spark arrestors" on my chimneys for safety. There's already mesh over the tops of the flues, but sparks do escape here and there.
I used to have one on my chimney but it rusted out and I never replaced it. I've not really noticed any difference with it on or off except it's easier to clean the flue when it doesn't have one.
I have 2 wood stoves, 1 in the house and 1 in my shop. The house stove usually has a slow burning fire but the shop stove burns a lot hotter and has a shorter flue. I have never seen sparks exit either flue [not saying it can't happen] I do clean my flues on a regular bases.
No palms to burn off of [or near] my property :wink2:
