I just bought a diamaBrush wheel that attaches to an angle grinder.

The reason I bought it was because I have 50 year old cedar siding. The paint is peeling off in a number of places.

The diamaBrush works well to remove the old paint.

However, here's the issue.

After removing the paint peels and paint chips, the cedar is not perfectly flat anymore. There are many coats of paint on the cedar and you can see many indentations.

If I prime the planks and paint it, you will see indentations in all the planks.

I was thinking of using some sort of wood spackle to fill in all the indentations (of which there are many).

What spackle might be best for cedar?

What do you suggest I sand the low spots with (e.g. hardware, sand paper grit number, process, etc)?

I've attached a picture of the current siding. I think I'm only 50% done and you can see how much sanding will need to be done when I'm finished with the diamaBrush.

I estimate in the range of 20 hours of sanding or more.
