Is there any advantage or disadvantage to both screwing and gluing my deck boards down?

Follow up question: Some of my joists have a good 1/4" space from 1 board to the next. Should I use some kind of glue to shore up the spacing between these boards?

I mean, if you lay the deck boards down across the joists, most of the time they lay flush from one joist to the next. However, because of some warping and twisting of the joists, there are some spots where the deck board has a good 1/4" gap and isn't even touching the joist. Will gluing these, then screwing them down be sufficient?
