The bathroom sink was 'new' over 50 years ago. I have no idea what the manufacturer was.
The cold water handle broke off, leaving behind a thick corroded stem and a stuck screw with part of the handle under it.
I did the white vinegar thing to remove corrosion and soaked the screw in WD 40, but could not budge the screw.
I tried a 'danco' vice grip handle but the opening is not large enuf to go over the thick stem
which is about 3/4 inch in diameter.
I considered the whole 'drilling out and extracting' the screw thing but that can destroy the stem, which I've been told probably could not be replaced because the fixture is so old, and we don't know the manufacturer.
We can still turn on the water with a wrench and we wouldn't want to lose that ability because when we had a leak in that sink about a year ago we were told there is so much rust underneath that sink that the faucet alone could not be removed and replaced, we'd need a whole new sink. We are trying to avoid that kind of expense.
please help
Anyone recognize this faucet and know where I could get replacement parts? Does anyone know of a vice grip faucet handle with an opening large enuf to go over that almost 3/4 inch mess left behind, or any 'universal handle' that could work, or any other possible solution. Function is all that we are after, we don't care how it looks
