You can use regular PVC fittings but you will need an adapter to go from pipe thread to hose thread.

No, the hose bib will have pipe threads so it will go right into PVC threading.

One thing to note, when screwing in metal male threads into PVC female threads the plastic will eventually split. Reinforce the female plastic fitting with a metal hose clamp.

Thanks for the correction. Somehow I left the bibb part out of my thought process. I was thinking PVC straight to hose.
