I recently purchased a water softener (it's supposed to arrive today). My pipes are 3/4", but the softener has a 1" bypass attachment. I knew this when I bought it but decided I could adapt it. But then I started wondering about it, so I did some web searching. I get the indication from the results that "upsizing" not normally something that's done.
My concern here is water pressure. I wouldn't think water pressure would change as long as air can't get trapped in the pipe, but I don't know enough about plumbing and water flow to say that with complete confidence. If it will have a negative impact, then perhaps I need to be thinking of a solution before I start unpacking the system.
Any input you can offer is much appreciated.
