Hello all! I am currently preparing to build some grow rooms for a friends business.
We are working with a 70'Lx 40'w area. The 70ft area will be split in half and will be making 2 grow rooms 26' wide.
My dilemma is with creating a roof for these rooms, because they want it as open as possibly but also want the rafters to be able to support grow lights.
So my thought is 2x6 board going down the middle, 2x6 rafters, and 4x4 post every 4 ft or so for support.
Originally I was just going to create a wall device down the middle but they want it more open.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!! Can upload sketches drawing if it will help

How close to the roof structure would the ceiling be. Any chance it would be looked at for storage.

The warehouse roof slants from 26ft high to 16ft in the back. Has been thought about to use the extra space above for storage!

** another thought I just had are Engineered I-beams! I could source them long enough to go across the 26' and could still be strong enough for a storage area above. Any thoughts?

You would have to check there charts but you would be up 14 or 16" high ones, but that would likely work.

If he’s jumping on the medical marijuana bandwagon, the heat/humidity associated with those operations can cause problems with wood products and engineered wood products even more so.

Now that it is legal here, people talk a lot more than before, these bigger operations aren't anything like what was done in rental houses that destroyed the place.
