Does wash machines work like cars. Cars like the old days.

Let's say Large Capacity 5.0 capacity vs "Extra" Large Capacity 5.2 cu ft. Do they actually have the same motor? What if I was to go down to 4.7 cu ft?

Let me use the car example. If Ford put the 5.0L V8 in a Ford Mustang, it's a performance car. Fast. If Ford put the same 5.0L V8 in a Ford Crown Victoria it would be barely adequate, because it's a large full-size sedan and heavier by 1,000lbs.

Does Wash machines work the same way, sort of? Let's use Samsung for example. As a customer, are "smaller" washers better in that sense because in my mind, the larger capacity the washer, the larger the motor. There are also 5.6 cu ft washers too.

Correct. To help clarify my question. The 5.6 has a bigger drum than a 5.4. Just wondering if I'm just paying for a bigger drum, or do I actually get a bigger motor, stronger motor, etc?

Because with water, there is going to be a weight difference for the motor to spin it.

If a 5.2, 5.4 and 5.6 all use the same motor, just difference size drum, then the 5.2 would have less weight to spin, not work as hard, and therefore last longer than a 5.6, who's motor is always under stress because owner think they can wash more clothes.
