I need to cut some sheet steel on my resto car, which is probably 16-18 gauge. (It's not body or fender panel, but a little thicker). I have a grinder with a diamond-tipped cutting disc as well as a plasma cutter, but need to spot weld together the pieces after they're cut. Therefore, don't want to grind or plasma cut, since a Sawzall will leave a cleaner cut.
I typically buy Dewalt battery tools, but have my eyes on a Bosch corded. Do you recommend 12 or 14 amp? Or is there an amp rating you should not go below -- in case you ever have to cut heavier mild steel like angle iron or bar stock?
