I want to build a cover to go over my patio and rather than opening up the fascia like i know is often done, I want to go up the roof a little to get some extra height, otherwise I think the overhand will be too low. Down below I've included some images of what I want to do.
My question is, are these built more as lean-to's and I just drill down through the roofing shingles into the beams of the existing roof, or do I have to open the roof up to fasten it more directly into the bones of the existing roof?
I've tried to find any videos or tutorials online of other people doing it, but while there are my patio cover tutorials, most are going against the flat side of a house or in through the fascia. If anyone knows of any tutorials for a patio cover like this, that would be awesome. Thanks
