I'm building a small platform that will raise my outside A/C condensers off the ground. My area floods bad in in heavy rain so I am planning on raising them on the platform only about 2' just to keep them safe and dry.
At any rate, I built the frame out of 2x4's with a frame size of 4' x 8' as I am planning on using one sheet of pressure treated plywood for the top. I used joist hangers to attach the three smaller 2x4 joists to the longer 2x4 outside edge frame beams. My question has to do with installing the 4x4 legs/posts. I have planned on using six 4x4 posts (three on each long side). I am a little confused though on how I should attach them and what tie I need to use to attach them with. If I put 4 in each corner, how am I supposed to attach it to the frame? Also, I will need to attach the other two in the midsection of the frame. What tie am I supposed to use for that?
I had been looking at Simpson BC postcaps until I realized those appear to be used to tie a 4x4 to 2-2xs or 3-2xs or a 6x. Then I found the A35 Framing Anchors, the DPT6 Deck Post Tie, the DJT14Z Deck Post Tie, etc.. My head is swimming.
I have attached two images. One a simple Sketchup model of what the top looks like. And the other a picture of the bottom of the frame of one of the corners. The plywood will attach to the other side of the frame as shown in that picture.
