I bought the 12/2 wire from Marketplace, how can I confirm if it’s a real one, not a fake?
Things did till now –
Scanned the bar code, same wire shows on HD
At HD confirmed the labelling, everything matches except the last 4 alphabets
Tested the 14/2 (bought from HD) and 12/2 with sulphuric acid, see the same cloudiness on the wires
The cross-section looks consistent, no white core, it's NOT copper coated
Used Magnet, doesn’t stick to it
Twisted wire 15-20 times, didn’t break, which shows it may be an original copper
Difference –
Any electrician in the gp, can I do any other tests to confirm may be like attaching this to a load and see if it heats? Or any other method?
Also, I plan to measure the home depot 20 m 12/2 wire weight to see if there is a difference.
