Installing Hunter remote control wall unit to Hunter fan

I have installed a Hunter fan and a Hunter remote wall control unit (model 99393). I have connected everything properly but I still have a problem. The wire going in and out of the wall control unit is hot but the wire coming out of the ceiling is not hot. Not sure how the same wire can be hot at the wall control but not hot at the ceiling. There is some charring where the wire comes out of the conduit at the wall so I am wondering if there is a problem with this wire. Thoughts?

Might be worth the trouble to phone customer support at Hunter and check compatibility.

First thing they will want is serial number of the fan.

One time I bought a Casablanca (which is Hunter) fan and remote. The store just pulled the fan and a remote out of inventory. When I set it up at home, it didn't work. I called customer support, they looked up the serial number and said "that fan and that remote are never going to work together". "That fan was built to work with a %^&*@ remote".

I have already discussed with Hunter and they didn't seem to think it would be problematic. The problem that I am trying to understand is that the wire coming out of the switch going to the fan is hot but it is not hot at the ceiling fan. It is the same wire so not sure why it could be hot at the switch and not hot at the ceiling.

I figured out the problem. The red wire that was in question (hot at the switch and not hot at the ceiling) must have gone bad. I capped this wire off at both ends and used the purple wire that was previously capped off to bring power to the fan. Once I swapped this out, everything worked perfectly. Not sure why the red wire developed a short. Thoughts?
