ok, so every place ive lived i paint. generally, ive bought low end paint, and never had an issue. im not a primerer or a two coater either.

well, in december i hired someone to paint my living area (it was a first paint job). he thought using 50 bucks a gallon SW would be a good idea, i thought it was silly, but whatever...

he primered and used two coats. the paint looked ok, but when it came time to clean the walls, it left an almost white powdery residue (the color of paint is dark)....

for that reason, ill never buy SW again.

now the current issue...

i bought a gallon of kilz ONE COAT casual colors, dark blue semi gloss. im painting over a bright yellow satin. i did some prep work before hand (which i usually never do) and sure enough, this paint doesnt seem to be sticking.

what can be the problem here?

I work for the Kilz brand and we aim to make sure that each one of our customers is completely satisfied with their purchase.Without hearing more info on the issue you mentioned, I am unable to give you an exact answer as to what may have caused this. From your post and pictures, it sounds like what you are experiencing is the paint not sticking to the wall as you are applying with the roller. To ensure proper adhesion, we recommend de-glossing the surface and cleaning the walls before application. Also, be sure that you are using the proper tools, Kilz paints requires a 3/8"-3/4" nap roller for best results.

Power residue more than likely something called burnishing. It can happen especially with darker colors. You may have used a SW product not rated for a heavey cleaning, flat?

As far a kilz not sticking to the walls, well to be honest I am not familiar with their paint products because it seems the boxes and Walmarts of the world sell these so we stay away. Just make sure the walls are clean and go from there.....you may have to re-prime if need be. Good Luck!

Holy roller marks batman! I think you are trying to cover too much wall with one roller load. A quality 3/8" roller will cover a single 8-10' vertical stripe, no more. Also, make sure you aren't applying pressure to the roller. Lastly, if you insist on using Wal-Mart paint (made by Masco, the same folks responsible for Behr), at least get a decent roller cover (Wal-Mart doesn't sell decent roller covers.) A 3/8" Purdy White Dove works well and is widely available.

Also you cannot go all directions when doing semi gloss( or any other sheen). Up and down strokes only.
Aslo, semi gloss should not necessariarly be applid to walls unless in a hospital.:whistling2:
