I have just painted my room a beautiful bright yellow color. It is Sherwin Williams gusto gold. It's pretty, but I am going for the faux look and would like to make it more of a Tuscany feel. I tried to add a brown--bad news--tried a brighter yellow--barely visible. Should I try orange?? Just dont know what that second color should be to step it up a notch and add tecture. SO thankful for any advise.

For a wash, use glaze for two reasons. First, it extends the drying time, second it will soften the color to blend in with the base coat.

The color to use would be yellow/brown. Not straight brown.

Another question....When doing a faux paint job what kind of paint should be on the wall and what should I mix the glaze with regarding a flat, satin or semi gloss. Does it matter or is it personal preference? Thanks

This is such a great site...thank you all for you help. I mixed yellow and red paint to get the color I wanted (almost a rust color), added the glaze.....and it looks fantastic on my yellow walls! Thanks so much everyone.
