Hello All,
Ayuh,.... I'm a Tool Junkie,... I buy/ acquire the tools I need for a job, then I have those tools next time,....

In yer Plan,,....
Who's gonna carry the insurance to cover My tools when they come back broken,..??
Or if they don't come back at all,..??

Who's gonna cover the insurance to cover Me, when some less handy person hurts themselves with My tools,..??

It looks like a program, I'd want Nothin' to do with, honestly,.....

I would if the concerns that Bondo stated were covered. I have many tools that I'd be willing to rent out - jack hammers, post hole augers, etc... Like Bondo, though, I buy most all of my tools, but may rent something like a tamper here and there.

Vandy....your business will fail.

HD will rent you just about any tool you want....and if one wants to rent as you suggest, we already have CL....

Your idea will fail because who wants to pay you a finders fee? Too much risk....and what happens when the renter takes off with the tool?

I made the line bold and underlined that you violated. So you can see it easier.

You MAY NOT self promote in any way other than having your signature line and avatar. This includes:
  • Asking people to contact you or to see your profile for more information.
  • Private Messaging members with unsolicited offers.
  • Soliciting the membership for feedback or suggestions on your product or services.
  • Post new threads that in some way promote your company.
  • Respond to threads with short responses that add nothing to the conversation just to get your name out there.
  • Bash other companies products or services that you compete with.

Class Project

This is for a class project in which we have to actually go out and talk to people we think may be our customer markets and get feedback.

Thank you to those who offered valuable insight into problems we should look into.

Please stop editing my post and reporting me for fraud.

I apologize if I have violated any terms. Because my company is not actually real, it is for a project, I thought that gaining insight from users of this site would be acceptable. Thanks.

A lot of people come here and seek feedback for school projects. Just identify them as such
And when they turn that project into a business and start making money. They don't share that money with us. :biggrin2:

I missed the original proposed business---but I assume you are trying to UBER private tools.

I own a pile---but I work all day--so how would I be able to get the tool to the renter or get it returned without missing work (and money) to do this.

Failure--------only a stay at home person could participate.

Seems to me the OP should have made clear at the beginning that the questions were hypothetical for a school project.
But given that he didn't it would have made more sense to delete the whole thing rather than edit it down to a shell that is unrecognizable and makes some of the comments based on the original post confusing.
Just my two cents.

Unless the OP decides to rephrase the question in this thread. Then 3 clicks and his post are merged. And none of the existing answers are lost.

Original Post Revised:

I am working on a group project in which we have to propose a potential business and present on a HYPOTHETICAL business plan.

I am currently in the customer discovery phase and since you all are individuals that frequently participate in DIY projects, and feedback, questions, or concerns are appreciated. The proposed business is as follows:

The business would be a peer-to-peer rental service in which individuals could rent tools, appliances, sporting goods, etc. from those in their communities. Those with gently used appliances would be able to post them on a AirBnB-like site where those in need could search, rent, return and rate the equipment. On the other end, rentees (those who rent out their things) would be able to review and rate renters as well.

Would you use such a service on either end? Why or why not?

Questions are appreciated, suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!

I don't know how to merge posts.
