Hello All!
I have been lurking on the forum for awhile and I have a project that I need some advice for. I am attaching images. I am wanting to do a screened in deck/porch off the back of the house in these images. I want to extend 4-5 feet past the edge of the existing concrete patio. I am assuming that the extension will be supported by 6x6 posts that are in ground. I will add a door where the existing stairs are (on the left side of pic. I m ahaving trouble figuring out exactly how to handle the roof tie in, as the roof on the right juts out, I'm not sure how to handle that.

I built decks for a few summers in college and I build furniture in my woodshop. I have a little experience but not sure where to begin!

Maybe start with pergola, attach the side to the small roof facia with the gutter removed and rain draining to roof. The patio roof could be installed in the rafter bays with some slope. Saying something like this because regular roof would take away more head room and will not attach to the small roof unless you want a flat roof.

Hello Carpdad,
I have uploaded a few pics of what I think you might mean. I have tried to do a diagram, (image on right). Is this waht you are talking about... or close to what you are talking about. Maybe the pergola is attached with a slight slope away from house and roof material (whatever that may be) inside the gaps between? Image on left is another idea of tying into the roof but now sure where I would start or if I need something that complex.
