My friend has a 25 year old Moen Chateau Shower valve with a 1225 cartridge. It leaks and I am worried that when I attempt to pull the cartridge with a recommended puller called ONA that I will have to use the secondary puller on that tool. I have pulled many Moens but never one this old and I have heard stories that they can be a _itch to remove if too much calcium has built up inside the valve body. Any of you guys had experience with this project? TIA for your help.

Use the T handled puller that has the screw to hold it on. Work it back and forth. If it gives you a hard time, squirt some good penetrating oil in around the cartridge. Usually when they're a bit tough to get out, it's a piece of the rubber seal handing up in the port.

Thanks Mike I will have some WD 40 Standing by. This Condo only has one shutoff valve for 8 units....a really bright idiot designed the piping, I know. But I need to get the water back on ASAP. I may contact the Manager and send out a letter to all of the occupants of the 8 unit and schedule an outage. This will give me a little time if the cartridge comes apart. Thanks again for your help.
